BIRDING
The African Scops-Owl, Pearl Spotted Owlet and African Barred Owlet are some of the nocturnal species that can often be seen feeding at night on insects attracted to the walkway lights in the lodge grounds. These vocal little owlets are frequently heard calling during the night. Mid August heralds the arrival of thousands of Carmine Bee-Eaters and visitors are treated to a kaliedescope of colour when these beautiful birds return to their nesting burrows in the late evening. "Someone once said bird viewing consists of two groups of people. Some shouting 'there there' the other shouting 'where where?"
The region offers birders an incredible birding paradise with as many as 445 species to be seen. Our resident birding guide will assist in making your Island View Lodge birding experience a memorable One. ![]()
